In his famous vision, in the falling apart church of San Damiano, Saint Francis heard Our Lord command him to “Rebuild His Church”. If you experienced this same vision, how would you respond? Would you answer Christ’s call? Do you realize Christ is calling you to rebuild His church right now?

Saint Francis responded to his vision both figuratively and literally. His preaching and and devotion led to the founding of the Franciscans, which helped continually rebuild the spiritual lives of Catholics for nearly 1,000 years.

But Saint Francis also took this command literally. He personally set about rebuilding the little chapel of San Damiano, brick by brick, restoring what was once a forgotten and neglected Church into a place that glorifies God.

In an age where fewer and fewer poeple attend Mass, churches all over Europe and America and closing. Places that were once sacred are now abandoned. Places where candles once shone, are now dark. Where prayers and chants were once offered, there is only silence. This is truly an age where the Church needs rebuilding in a spiritual sense.

But in some areas, the faith is booming and vibrant. Unlike in Europe and America, these places need rebuilding in a very literal way. Faithful and devoted communities of Catholics all over the world are gathering right now as you read this in overcrowded makeshift churches or in churches in desperate need of repairs.

You, just like Saint Francis, can answer Christ’s call to rebuild his Church. You can help build churches in areas where there are none. You can help repair churches that have been damaged and in danger of falling down. You can be Saint Francis in the 21st century.

To help rebuild the Church, The Pontifical Mission Societies have created MISSIO, a new and innovative Catholic crowd-funding platform that allows you to directly assist the Catholic charities and projects all over the world.

MISSIO allows you to search through life-giving and life-saving projects – ones providing for basic needs, others extending the Good News of the Gospel to remote areas, and still more bringing the light of the Lord’s loving-kindness to those in the darkest circumstances. With MISSIO, you can choose one of these missions of Pope Francis and donate directly to them, knowing that 100% of your donation will go directly there. You can also share them on social media and reignite the discussion and remind people of these forgotten situations, so others can support the projects also.

Launched by Pope Francis himself, the MISSIO platform offers a direct connection to change-makers who work on the “front lines” making a difference for the poor and forgotten through direct, daily service.

There are opportunities to help build a Marian shrine in Cameroon, build a church in Peru for Catholics who currently have Mass in a barn, build a monastery chapel in VietnamRebuild Our Lady of Holy Rosary in India, repair the belltower of a church in Chile, and help a priest build a new Church in Mongolia.

MISSIO is powered by The Pontifical Mission Societies, the Catholic Church’s official support organization for overseas missions since 1822, providing for a global network of people who are making a difference for communities in need around the globe.

Check out MISSIO today and start giving!
