When my friends bring up that the bible states that Jesus has brothers and sistesr, my first thought is always this: While not structurally based, is it not possible that they were Joseph’s children with another wife? Was it not common at the time of Jesus’s birth for men to have more than one spouse? After all, Joseph was a skilled laborer, and probably had enough money to have more than one spouse. After all, just because Jesus was born in that manger, it doesn’t mean His foster father didn’t have the money, The bible states there was no room at the inn, not that the Holy Family couldn’t afford to stay there.
I meant to say scripturally based. Automatic spell check isn’t fun.
I believe that Jesus was born into poverty because it was the most humble of stations.I also believe that Joseph, upon realizing what a treasure that he had in Mary had no desire to marry other women but instead devoted himself even more fully to Mary and in ardent devotion to her protected and cared for her until the day he died.
Someone has mentioned, I believe it was Scott Hahn in one of his books. . . that we know the Holy Family was poor because they offered 2 doves at the time Jesus was presented at the Temple. That is the offering of the poor in the Old Testament.
I believe we are ALL brothers and sisters in God our Father!
I believe we are ALL brothers and sisters in God our Father! As we’re all who lived during the time Christ walked the earth !
it is a custom of the jews to called thier cousins and friends a brother

Peace, Luke 2;14
Just as the Ark of the Covenant could not be touched by humans or they would die (1 Samuel 6:19 and 2 Samuel 6:2-7), Mary was the “ark” of Almighty God for nine months. What man would dare touch her knowing that her womb had born the Son of God?
