President Trump was received by Pope Francis for an audience at the Apostolic Palace on Wednesday. The audience lasted about 30 minutes, with the two speaking and exchanging gifts.

In attendance with President Trump was first lady Melania Trump, along with his daughter Ivanka, both dressed in black and wearing the traditional black veils.

The pair exchanged several gifts: Trump gave Francis books by Martin Luther King Jr., and the pope also gave Trump an emblem of an olive tree, representing the need to pursue peace. “We can use peace,” the president replied.

At the end of the audience, Pope Francis gave President Trump copies of Evangelii Gaudium, Amoris Laetitia, and Laudato Si’.

As they shook hands in farewell, Trump told the pontiff, “I won’t forget what you said.”

Trump later tweeted that it had been an “honor of a lifetime” to meet the pope. He added, “I leave the Vatican more determined than ever to pursue PEACE in our world.”

  1. I think it is funny that our president gives the POPE a few books, and he said several times that one of them is a biography of Martin Luther King. Trump himself is such a bigot, supports a KKK leader, characterizes blacks awfully on any day. He sure has guts? But the POPE was ready for him with the gift of an Olive Tree that is a sign of peach which is growing away from the symbol of war. And the POPE kept telling trump to persue peace.

    • Please do not Spread Lies and Gossip. Is that what a Catholic does. Are you so Virtuous that you are Without Sin? Maybe you are a Saint.

    • Christine Beniwal is spreading lies and misinformation. Look into history, the true history of the KKK is linked to the democrat party not the republicans or President Trump. And you’re a Catholic? Oh mine. Lord have mercy on you!

  2. Thank you for the historial Spirit filled moment between two leaders seeking peace among God’s people. May God bless us with His mercy and love.
