Scientists Who Opened Christ’s Tomb Detect Mysterious Readings That Support Shroud Theory

During recent conservation efforts at The Church of Holy Sepulchre, the tomb of Christ was opened and inspected for the first time in centuries.

According to reports, some of the scientific instruments used by scientists for analysis and measurement were affected by strong electromagnetic disturbances when they were placed on the stone slab on which Christ’s body rested. The scientists report that their measuring devices either malfunctioned or ceased to work at all. According to an Aleteia report:

The phenomenon was confirmed by one of the scientists authorized to access the tomb. Later, one of the heads of the building and construction team, Antonia Moropoulou, indicated that it is really hard to imagine that someone would be willing to put in danger his or her reputation just because of a “publicity stunt.” Moreover, the journalist testifies to the scientists’ surprise during the opening of the slab: they hoped that the grave would be much lower than it was. Their conclusion: previously performed analyses with the instruments seemed to have been distorted by an electromagnetic disturbance.

The observation of these unusual electromagnetic anomalies at the tomb of Jesus may lend credence to a scientific hypothesis on the creation of the ghostly image on the Shroud of Turin. Italy’s National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development [ENEA] concluded during a five-year-long study that the Shroud of Turin could not be a ‘medieval fake’.  The findings of ENEA study hypothesized that the image may have been created by an intense source of light, stronger than could be created by any technology currently available to man. The results of ENEA “show that a short and intense burst of VUV directional radiation can color a linen cloth so as to reproduce many of the peculiar characteristics of the body image on the Shroud of Turin, including shades of color, the surface color of the fibrils of the outer linen fabric, and the absence of fluorescence”.

The study noted “that the total power of VUV radiations required to instantly color the surface of linen that corresponds to a human of average height, body surface area equal to = 2000 MW/cm2 17000 cm2 = 34 thousand billion watts makes it impractical today to reproduce the entire Shroud image using a single laser excimer, since this power cannot be produced by any VUV light source built to date (the most powerful available on the market come to several billion watts )”.

In addition to the bizarre scientific readings, some observers who were present when the tomb was opened reported smelling “a sweet fragrance”. A sweet pleasant scent often accompanies the recounting of Marian apparitions and the tombs of Saints, and is referred to as “the odour of sanctity”. During the last partial opening, made by the architect Nikolaos Komnenos in 1809, the chronicler also made mention of a “sweet aroma.”

  1. Nothing surprises me when it comes to the Truth that the Resurection of Our Lord, Christ Jesus was, is, and foevermore will be true. Revelation 1:18 How can I know this? It is that I have personally experienced a life changing “unitive experience” of His Unconditional Love come and flow into my aching, empty heart at the lowest time of my life. No merit, lost in my own misery, only a plea for Mercy, if He should so choose, as I had nothing to offer in exchange, except for my failed life. O’h the auesome JOY that filled my soul as I then had experienced the filfillment of my Baptism, my Spiritual Birth, Born again from above, and I knew it to be so. It was all His Gift. Forevermore all Praise, Honor, and Glory be to His Holy Name, The Most HolyTrinity, The One God who is God.

  2. Re Gerard McLain’s comment. I had a similar experience when I was traveling in the town of Acquapedente, Italy in 2014. As a non practicing Catholic I had become embittered with the Church and even read a large number of books on atheism. As a gay man I felt God and the Church had abandoned me. The day I arrived in Acquapedente was the feast of Corpus Christi (in Italy called Corpus Domini)and there was a ceremony in the town square where a procession came with the priest holding the Blessed Sacrament. At one point the priest raised the monstance with the consecrated Host and blessed the people. All in the square did a profound bow at this moment. In this position I was suddenly filled with pure joy and happiness and the assurance that God loved me, gay man and all. All my doubts and bitterness were gone. God’s unconditional love is real.

  3. Years ago I was given the chance to see the Shroud and all of the testing done on it. A house was set up and room after room was filled with all of the tests done on the Shroud. I moved from room to room reading all of the tests. I stepped over the threshold of one room and felt a chill up my spine and struggled with my breathing. I immediately stepped back into the room I had been in and was fine. I stepped back over the threshold only to find that was the room the Shroud was displayed in. It was overwhelming. Physically. All I could do is cry. My husband went through that same day but at a different time. Afterwards I asked him if he had anything odd happen to him. He said when he stepped into the room with the Shroud he had a chill run down his spine and struggled with his breathing for a minute. No test can convince me that the Shroud of Turin is not the burial cloth of Jesus. It is truly a miraculous gift that in our stupidity we can’t appreciate.

  4. If we believe God could create an human being using sand or dust and have all internal organs, veins, arteries, muscles, nerves, blood, a brain etc. to become functional then it cannot be difficult for us to believe that God could raise Jesus from the dead with his body parts already formed though damaged through the crucifixion and not functioning at all during the period of death.

  5. There is no greater joy than experiencing what happens when one first is touched by God and forever knows the amazing reality of the risen Lord. It seems not enough to just say thank you, but the Lord knows my gratefulness is from the depths of my heart and soul. He chooses everyone, but forces no-one to be His own.

  6. In regard to the article asking if I know my blood type, yes I do. It is AB. This does not make me prideful, it makes me humble.

  7. I’m awed and full of reverence for this uncover of the truth we were always told. May His Holy name be glorified, Amen.

  8. If you want to believe in religion fine. But stop LYING about Science. You’re absolutely clueless and this article is garbage.

  9. There things that they hide. Like Jesus was actually black since the Israelites at Jesus time were black just like the old Egyptians. Check the images in the pyramids and from there, make a research.

  10. Our Lord is true love & true MERCY. Let us all be aware of HIS Mercy.
Let’s note forget to thank Him for all the Graces He gives us every day.

  11. Hocus Pocus the carbon dating in 1988 of the Shroud has been thoroughly debunked. Portions of the cloth tested were sewn on after a fire in the Middle Ages. Recent testing demonstrated that inner cloth dates from time of Christ.

    • The carbon dating was on the piece of the shroud that had been patched up in the middle ages because of a fire. It was not the original piece of the material. When they tested the original part of the cloth they found pollens that were only found in Jerusalem and much more. google it

  12. Carbon testing was done on the piece of cloth that had been patched during a fire during the middle ages. Don’t be fooled. They tested the part of the cloth that was there from the beginning and found it to have pollens that are only found in Jerusalem. The man of the Shroud had a beard which means he was Jewish. the Jewish faith forbids men to shave their beards. The man of the Shroud had puncture marks around his head which proves he was crowned with thorns etc.

  14. TY for the article. Mark Antonacci’s book, “TEST THE SHROUD” provides, perhaps, the best theory about how the sacred image was imprinted on the burial linen. Scientist’s should test for the radioactive isotopes of calcium on the burial slab and inside of the tomb.
